2026 Sustainable Finance Barometer
For the third consecutive year, WeeFin's Expertise team has published its Sustainable Finance Barometer. Sixty Article 8 and 9 funds in Europe and the United States were selected and their practices examined in order to provide the most accurate picture possible of sustainable finance today.
This 2026 edition reveals three key findings:
- Despite the anti-ESG backlash, funds' ambitions are growing and becoming more structured. Between 2024 and 2025, the proportion of funds setting a greenhouse gas emissions reduction target doubled, as did the level of alignment with the European taxonomy.
- The recently announced revision of the SFDR should lead to further improvements in practices, although efforts still need to be made by the majority of funds.
- Funds with transition objectives have also strengthened their ambitions, but practices still need to be refined in order to truly distinguish themselves from traditional funds.
